Liz Santaniello, NP first joined the IMR disaster relief team in Puerto Rico in October 2017 after Hurricane Maria. She is thrilled to be returning in October this year to continue to support the community and IMR's efforts to provide the best care everywhere. You can donate below to help Liz and the team directly impact the healthcare community and the people and patients in Vieques this fall.

IMR has been on the ground since October 2017 teaming with local community organizations in Vieques to bring direct aid and supplies to the victims of Hurricane Maria. Vieques, a small island southeast of mainland Puerto Rico, was particularly hit hard by the hurricane and has had a long-standing history of health disparities for the last few decades. Currently there is no hospital on the island and residents seeking emergency and obstetric care must take a ferry to the mainland.

IMR has aided Vieques by providing direct medical care, home visits, and workshops on health and wellness at local schools. IMR hopes to expand their role in strengthening the health system in Vieques by training local healthcare workers. All of this is possible through our partnership with Vieques Love, the leading community group.
